Atlantic Canada Forest Health Workshop

As always there is no registration fee to attend this event, but for planning purposes we would ask that you fill out the attached ACFHW Registration form and “submit” it to allow us to get a sense for attendance numbers for both the workshop and the evening social.

The workshop is being held at the City of Summerside Credit Union Place, 511 Notre Dame St.

A block of rooms has been reserved at The Loyalist Country Inn, 195 Heather Moyse Dr. under ACFHW 2020 at a nightly rate of $109.00, plus 3% DMF, plus 15% HST.

There is an group dinner planned for the first evening at Evermoore Brewing Co., which is located right next to the hotel.

Depending on the weather there is a field trip planned for the afternoon of Day 2 to Summerside’s Rotary Friendship Park

This annual workshop and conference discuss native and invasive forest pest issues across the Atlantic provinces.  Registration is free but required.

Section I: Forest pest updates from each provincial representative as well as CFIA survey update and an update from the Maine Forest Service.

Section II: Will present CFIA regulatory update.

Section III: Invasive pest research with emphasis on research updates and progress on Hemlock Wooley Adelgid, beetle diversity in PEI.

Section IV: EAB management research in eastern Canada and HWA management.

Section V: Site Visit “Rotary Friendship Park”, 599 MacEwen Rd., Summerside, PE. Discussing GM trapping, Japanese knotweed and glossy buckthorn removal trials.

Section VI and VII: Native pest Issues regarding SBW, whitemarked tussock moth, and Climate Change impacts on forest health in Atlantic Canada
